Modern industrial measurement and control equipment requires a very high level of protection to work correctly. Electromagnetic interference can disrupt the normal operation of equipment and damage electrical devices and components.

Icotek's SKL EMC cable clamps benefit from a wider contact area with the cable's interference shield (picture A). Compared to traditional EMC cable clamps, icotek’s EMC line have an up to 50% larger contact area between the cable sheath and the EMC cable clamp (picture B). The manufacturer's SKL shield clamps are available with a variety of mounting options, such as screw type mounting on metal plates or mounts for DIN rails or bus bars. Many EMC cable shielding products, when properly sized and used in conjunction with cable ties, provide strain relief in accordance with BS EN 62444. In addition, all icotek EMC cable clamps designed to shield cable diameters from 1.5 to 75 mm have been tested using various frequency ranges and, in all tests, there was minimal leakage resistance.

If you need to install a larger number of cables and they must be shielded in a relatively small space, icotek offers the RLF and RLFZ EMC clamp assemblies, which are an efficient EMI shielding solution for up to 12 cables.

As an alternative to EMI shielding clamps, icotek also offers classic spring-loaded shield brackets in various sizes and mounting types.

EMC cable entry systems

Industrial process technology demands increasing security against disturbances for electrical MCR facilities such as measurement, control, and regulation.

Icotek's EMC-KEL-DS and EMC-KVT-DS provide an effective way to prevent field-derived and field-generated interference. The wide contact area of the cable EMC bushing to the enclosure wall, combined with the protection of the inside of the enclosure, provides a good solution for both types of interference. Interference in the field is prevented by a metallic wall. A conductive flat gasket is installed between the EMC-KEL and the metallic wall of the enclosure, which is included in the delivery. EMC-KT cable grommets are made of conductive elastomer. This allows interference to escape from the EMC bundle of the cable directly through the gasket, grommet, and flat gasket into the enclosure body. This ensures full-area protection against field-bound interference.

The EMC-KEL-DS split cable entry system and the EMC-KVT-DS split cable gland offer an alternative to conventional EMC grommets - especially when routing cables with connectors.
